Shepherd's Pie with Cheese Topping Recipe

A super easy weeknight meal-in-one recipe. This shepherd's pie is easy to make with a combination of simple ingredients that kids and adults will love. The top cheese layer provides a great crispy topping.

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 can favorite vegetable, drained
  • 6 servings instant mashed potatoes (or use real potatoes, if desired)
  • 8 ounces favorite shredded cheese
Container: 9 x 13 baking pan

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Brown ground beef; drain grease.
  • Stir in soup and spread mixture in 13"x9" baking pan.
  • Spread vegetables over top of beef mixture.
  • Spread mashed potatoes over top of vegetables. Sprinkle with shredded cheese.
  • Bake until heated through and cheese is melted.

"Tasty and easy to make. My son had 3 helpings so it must have been good. I used cream of celery soup instead of cream of mushroom only because I was out of cream of mushroom. I think it would be good with either one."
