20 Minute Cocoa Cake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3 1/2 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups self rising flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • FROSTING:
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 3 1/2 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 box powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup nuts, chopped (optional)
Directions
Bring cocoa, butter, shortening and water to a boil.

Pour over flour and sugar. Mix by hand then add eggs, soda, buttermilk and vanilla. Bake at 400° for 20 minutes.

For Frosting, bring margarine, cocoa and milk to a boil. Add powdered sugar, vanilla and nuts, if desired. Pour hot over warm cake.
