Oly Kocken . . . German Deep Fried Bread Recipe

  • 10 cups flour
  • 6 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 3/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 5 cups milk
  • 3 cups raisins
Mix all ingredients together. Drop by tablespoons into hot grease in a deep-fryer. Deep-fry until golden brown. About 1 to 2 minutes, (depending on temp.) and flip over for 1 to 2 minutes.) Don't over cook. Place on paper towels to absorb excess grease. A very old German family favorite. (Try at Thanksgiving, when you deep-fry the turkey.)
