Kringla (Norwegian Sweetbread) Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup soft oleo (margarine but NOT butter; not melted)
  • 2 eggs (slightly beaten)
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons soda
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 6 cups flour
Directions
Mix sugar and oleo. Add remaining ingredients. Dough will be sticky and soft. Don't over mix. Put in covered container overnight in refrigerator. Put flour on rolling area. Roll out to about the size of a fat, long pencil and make into bows (like breast cancer symbol) Bake 400 degrees, about 5 - 8 minutes depending on oven. Want them just slightly brown...
