Simple Homemade Chili Recipe

  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 cup green pepper, chopped
  • 1 cup celery, chopped
  • 1 pound ground beef or stew meat
  • 2 cans kidney beans
  • 2 cans tomato sauce
  • 2 cans tomato juice
  • 1 can diced tomatoes or fresh tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder (or more as desired)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
Simmer vegetables in pan with olive oil.

Add ground beef and brown.

Add the rest of the ingredients and simmer until tender, 1 hour or longer, stirring occasionally.

Serve with cheese or sour cream. Works great in a slow cooker.
