Molasses Coffee Cake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon soda
Directions
Mix flour, sugar, salt and shortening as for pie. Take out 1 cup of crumbs for topping. To the remaining crumbs add beaten egg, then molasses and warm water. Blend well. Add soda which has been dissolved in a little water. Place in a 10x13x2 baking pan and bake in 325-350° oven for about 30-45 minutes.
