Apple Strawberry Slush

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups ripe strawberries
  • 2 small, crisp apples
  • 2 tbsp. sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla syrup
  • crushed ice
  • Wash and peel apples.

  • Cut apples into quarters and remove core. Slice and cut into chunks.

  • Go through strawberries and remove any soiled or blemished berries. If the strawberries are dirty, rinse gently under cold water and pat dry.
  • Remove hulls from the strawberries.

  • Cut strawberries in half and place in a bowl. Sprinkle with sugar and stir. Set bowl of strawberries aside.

  • Process the apples in a blender or food processor until there are no chunks of fruit left. Empty into a bowl and set aside.
  • Stir the strawberries and sugar, making sure all the sugar has dissolved. Pour strawberries into the blender or processor and blend until smooth.

  • Pour the strawberries into a medium size bowl or a measuring cup and add the processed apples. Add the vanilla syrup and stir until well blended.

  • Prepare crushed ice. The ice can be crushed using a blender or food processor. Ice from a crushed ice dispenser in a refrigerator can also be used if available.

  • Fill glasses 1/2 to 3/4 full of crushed ice.

  • Fill glasses with the apple and strawberry mixture.
  • Stir mixture into the crushed ice to mix thoroughly before serving.

  • Just place a spoon in each glass and this cool, healthy treat is ready to serve.
