1938 Gingerbread Cake Recipe

Ingredients
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 Eggs
2 1/2 cups Flour
1 cup boiling water
2 teaspoons Baking Soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1 cup molasses
Directions
Cream butter and eggs with molasses. Stir together sugar, flour, soda, cinnamon, cloves and ginger. Fold into molasses mixture. Add boiling water. Quickly pour batter into a well greased pan. Bake at 400° for 40 minutes or until center is done. Let cool.
