Crock Pot Steel Cut Oatmeal Recipe

  • 2 cups steel cut oatmeal (also called Irish oats or Scottish oats -- not rolled oats)
  • 5 cups water
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 large bananas, sliced
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • maple syrup for drizzling
Container: 4- or 5-quart slow cooker
6+ hrs
  • Coat the crock pot with cooking spray.
  • Place the oats, water, milk, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt in the crock pot.
  • Cover and cook on the low heat setting for 8-10 hours.
  • Prior to serving, stir in the bananas and the pecans, and drizzle with maple syrup if desired.
