Caramel Apples or Pretzel Rods Recipe

Ingredients
  • 14 Apples (small)
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 cups brown sugar, packed
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz. can)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
Directions
Melt butter; stir in sugar, corn syrup and dash of salt. Mix well. Bring to boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. stir in milk. Cook, stirring, to 245°, about 12-15 minutes. Remove from heat; add vanilla. Dip each apple. Set on a buttered cookie sheet.

This is a great recipe for the pretzel rods. coat part of the pretzel with caramel and set on a buttered cookie sheet; watching them to roll them so caramel doesn't puddle to the sides. After caramel is set on the rods you can dip them in chocolate.
