Grandmother's Soft Gingerbread Recipe

Ingredients
2 1/2 cups sifted flour
1 egg
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup molasses
1 cup water
1/2 cup shortening
1 teaspoon Ginger
1 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
Directions
Sift all dry ingredients together. Cream together butter, sugar, and eggs. Mix in molasses and water. Gradually combine the two mixtures, alternating the flour mixture and water mixture. Pour into greased pan and bake for about 40-45 minutes at 350°.
