  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla or almond flavor
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk

  • Cream butter with sugar and mix in vanilla or almond flavoring.
  • In a separate bowl combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Add milk and dry ingredients separately to the creamed butter and sugar mixture. Add a little of each at a time; mixing well between additions and then cream all together until thoroughly mixed.
  • Spread batter in a greased 7 x 11 inch pan. (Can use 9 x 13, it will just end up thinner.) Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or done to touch.
