Apple Bar Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 cup margarine
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 8 apples, sliced
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons flour

  • Mix first 4 ingredients like a pie crust.
  • Add 1 egg yolk (save the white) and enough milk to make 2/3 of a cup; chill.
  • Roll out 1/2 of the mixture on a cookie sheet.
  • Combine the apples, sugar, cinnamon, and flour; spread this mixture over the rolled out crust.
  • Roll out the remainder of the crust and cover the apple mixture.
  • Beat egg white and brush over the top.
  • Bake at 350 degrees F. for 45 minutes.
  • While still warm, drizzle with powdered sugar frosting.
