A chocolate cake that will cure any sweet tooth. Or maybe it will simply make you want to come back for more since this cake is so sinfully decadent and moist. The buttermilk adds that little bit extra to the cake.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup buttermilk - or sour milk
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 unsweetened chocolate baking squares

  • Cream sugar and butter together.
  • Add egg, and chocolate and mix well.
  • Mix dry ingredients - flour, salt and soda together in a separate bowl.
  • Sift dry ingredients into butter/egg mixture.
  • Gradually stir in milk, and then add the vanilla.
  • Bake at 350° F for 25 minutes.
  • Frost as desired.
