Frosted Ginger Snaps Recipe

Kids will love this flavorful frosted treat—one of the all time favorite cookie recipes.
Directions
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the shortening and sugar.
  • Add in the eggs one at a time until well blended.
  • Mix in the soda, molasses, salt, cinnamon, cloves and ginger until all is incorporated.
  • Slowly add the flour to the mixture.
  • Roll the dough into one inch balls and roll each into sugar to coat.
  • Place on cookie sheets two inches apart and bake in a 375° F preheated oven for 10 minutes.
  • Remove cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • In a medium mixing bowl, combine the butter, powdered sugar and milk until blended together and smooth.
  • Frost each cookie with the frosting and allow to set.

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups shortening
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 2 eggs
- 4 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons butter - at room temperature
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 4 teaspoons milk - may need more to reach desired consistency
