Chili Sauce with Apples Recipe

Ingredients
2 cups tart apples, (Granny Smith, gala), chopped 1/4 inch
1 cup celery, chopped 1/4 inch
6 ounces apple cider vinegar
6 ounces water
1 tablespoon salt
1 cup chopped onion, 1/4 inch
2 red bell peppers, chopped 1/4 inch
2 green bell peppers, chopped 1/4 inch
3 cups sugar
2 quarts tomatoes, skinned (8 cups or 25 large plum tomatoes), seeded and diced 1/4 inch
12 whole cloves
2 teaspoons celery seed
2 hot peppers, optional
Directions
Place all ingredients into a large saucepan and stir. Bring to a boil and cook about 1-1/2 to 3 hours, until thickened.
Makes 5 pints.
