Steaming fresh peas is a good cooking method to use for bright green peas with a crisp tender texture. Clean and prepare the peas
for cooking and follow the easy steps below.
- Add water to saucepan so it is below the bottom of the steamer basket and bring to a full boil.
- Place the steamer basket with peas in it into the saucepan, making sure no water is coming up through the holes in the steamer.
- Cover saucepan and allow them to cook for 2 minutes.
- Remove the steamer basket from the saucepan.
Peas should be crisp-tender when done and bright green in color. Pour peas into a serving bowl, season with salt and pepper, and add a little butter for extra flavor and serve while warm.
