This versatile Powdered Sugar Frosting recipe can be made thick enough to use for detailed decorating and it can be easily thinned down to be used as a glaze. It works well for cake decorating, frosting cupcakes and brownies, and for decorating cookies.

When using this frosting recipe for decorating you can thin it slightly to create a smooth overall layer and then thicken it slightly for detailed decorating. Powdered Sugar Frosting is also easy to tint if you want to decorate with different colors. The surface of the Powdered Sugar Frosting will tend to get a little crusty if stored uncovered. To keep the frosting soft, store the frosted food in an airtight container at room temperature, unless the food item needs refrigeration; then store it in the refrigerator.
