  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 1/2 cups warm milk
  • 8 ounces dried beef, chopped
  • pinch cayenne pepper

  • In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt butter. Whisk in flour all at once to form a roux.
  • Whisk in milk, a little at a time, increase heat to medium-high, and cook, stirring until thickened.
  • Bring to a boil, stir in cayenne and beef, heat thoroughly.
  • Serve over toast.

"This was great! I hadn't had creamed dried beef on toast for years. We had some made last time we got meat from the locker so I had my wife try this recipe. It was even better than I remembered and my wife said it was simple to make. I am sure we will have it again soon."
