Developed to hold food items immersed in a liquid brine, Brining Bags are large clear bags that are made to securely hold the weight of both the food item and the liquid during the brining process. Brining involves the process of soaking foods in a salt water solution prior to cooking in order to enhance the cooked flavor and make the meat moister when it is served. Typically, the bag is made of a durable plastic in various sizes to hold from 4 to 20 pounds of poultry or other foods or 1 to 2 gallons of brining solution. Similar to a smaller-sized food bag with a resealable closure, Brining Bags may range from 12 to over 20 inches wide with a length ranging from 20 to 30 inches long. Meats, vegetables, fish, and poultry are all common items that can be placed in Brining Bags. After use, discard the Brine Bag and do not reuse.
