A savory pie that consists of a pastry crust filled with custard made of eggs, cream, seasoning and a variety of other ingredients, such as ham, bacon, cheese, onions, mushrooms, shellfish, and herbs. Quiche can be served as an hors d'oeuvre in small bite-sized pieces or as the first course of a meal, as a brunch meal or lunch meal, or it can be served as a dinner entree. The most commonly known recipe for quiche is Quiche Lorraine, made with crispy bacon bits in the custard filling.
