Grilled Chicken Thighs Recipe

Provided By
Chicken thighs are ideal for grilling. They are moist, flavorful, and small enough to cook quickly. Although good without any additions beyond salt and pepper, try an addition of barbeque sauce, such as honey mustard barbeque sauce, for an easy but tasty flavor boost.

  • Start the grill. Trim the chicken: remove any large areas of fat and trim off excess flaps of skin (a sharp scissors works well for this), but leave the skin on for grilling. It can be removed later, if desired. Salt and pepper both sides.
  • Grill, skin side down, over direct medium heat for about 10 minutes. Turn and cook until almost done, another 5-10 minutes, depending on size. Brush  sauce on top side, turn and grill on that side for a minute, repeat with other side. Check for doneness--make a small cut in thick area of meat: it should not be pink. Serve hot off the grill.

"Awesome grilled thighs. I only made 4 because it was just me for supper. I ate two and will make a sandwich from the leftovers tomorrow night. They had a nice barbecued flavor."

"Super simple, just like I need. I used the McCormick's Montreal Chicken seasoning instead of salt and pepper. Delicious! I cooked both thighs and breasts since some in my family like the white meat, while others prefer dark."

"My wife and I both prefer dark meat chicken to white so this was a great recipe for the two of us. They were great . . . good grilled flavor topped off with a little barbecue sauce. I am sure we will be fixing these again."

"These were perfect for supper last night on top of some lettuce, tomatoes and bacon. It was too hot to do much of anything, so these simple grilled thighs were just the right thing. I am having it again for lunch today with the leftovers."

"Great recipe for a quick weeknight meal. I do remove the skin before grilling just to save a few callories. It seems to create its own skin and thighs still stay pretty tender. I always use Sweet Baby Rays barbecue sauce."
