Any combination of savory ingredients that are chopped or diced into small pieces for use as a flavoring to be added to Bruschetta. Common ingredients may include tomatoes, onions, olives, sweet peppers, chile peppers, capers, fruits, and herbs. The ingredients are then mixed with the juices of the ingredients or with olive oil that may be seasoned with wine vinegar. Bruschetta Toppings are then added to small pieces of crusty or toasted breads to be served as appetizers. Some Toppings may be similar in appearance to salsa, oliverde, olive pastes, a tapenade, or other similar cracker and bread spreads. However, most often the Topping will have a more coarse texture than a spread or paste that will typically have a finer texture.
