Sweet Potato Chip

Made in the same manner as a fried potato chip, Sweet Potato chips are thin, curled or flat in shape, and crunchy-textured. Often produced from a variety of sweet potato such as a Beauregard, Jewel, or Red Garnet, the sweet potato chips are sliced into thin pieces or extruded into thin oval-shaped chips, seasoned and baked or deep fried for use as a snack or topping for some foods. Sweet Potato chips have a sweeter flavor with a noticable sweet potato taste. Depending on how it's made, this chip is similar to other chips made from vegetables such as beets or carrots in an attempt to offer a healthier alternative to traditional types of corn or potoato chips.
