An Italian dessert that is made to be dome-shaped when served, a design that was supposedly inspired by the design of an Italian cathedral. Triangles of pound or sponge cake that have been moistened with a curacao liqueur are placed around the inside of a bowl to form a shell that is then filled with stiffly whipped cream topped with bits of chocolate, caramel, hazelnuts, and almonds. A layer of cake is then set on top of the whipped cream filling and the dessert is refrigerated to stiffen and set the filling. Once it is stiffened sufficiently, the cake is inverted onto a plate, which results in the dome shape of the dessert.
