Homemade Caramels 2 Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 pound butter
  • 2 cups Light Corn Syrup
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 ounces cans sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup flour, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
Directions
In heavy saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add corn syrup and sugar. Bring to a boil for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Add 1 1/2 cans sweetened condensed milk. Mix flour thoroughly with remaining sweetened condensed milk and then add to corn syrup mixture. Continue to boil until mixture darkens and reaches medium hard ball stage (240°). Stir constantly or mixture will harden. Add vanilla and pour into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Allow to cool. Cut into 1 inch pieces with a sharp, buttered knife. Wrap individual squares in small pieces of waxed paper. Makes about 5 dozen.
