Thumbprint Cookies 9 Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Directions
Mix together butter, sugar, egg yolk and vanilla. Stir in flour and salt. Roll in 1" balls. Dip in beaten egg whites. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 375° for 5 minutes. Press thumbprint in each cookie. Bake 8 minutes more. Cool. Put frosting or jelly in center of cookie. Great for the holidays. Makes 2 dozen.
