  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon corn syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
5 mins
10 mins
  • Combine all the ingredients in a saucepan except for the baking soda.
  • Cook over medium-high heat until mixture is simmering.
  • Once the syrup is simmering, add the baking soda and cook for 10 more seconds. Then remove from the heat.
  • Serve while warm over pancakes or waffles.
Note: Be sure to only bring the syrup to a simmer because the milk will curdle if cooked to hot. If syrup curdles, try whisking to smooth out.

"I made this syrup to go with the Homemade Buttermilk Pancakes. It curdled on me when I made it but I tried whisking it and that helped. I thought it tasted great but my husband preferred store bought syrup on his pancakes. The kids liked both."
