Layered Vegetable Salad (24 hour) Recipe

  • 1 head lettuce, broken
  • celery, chopped
  • 1/2 green pepper, chopped
  • 1/4 red onion, chopped
  • 1 package frozen peas (thawed)
  • 2 cups mayonnaise, light
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 pound cheddar cheese, grated
  • bacon, cooked and crumbled (optional)
In large bowl or 9X13 pan, layer all ingredients, except mayonnaise, sugar, cheese, and bacon. Mix mayonnaise and sugar, put on top of layered salad. Sprinkle with cheese and bacon. Cover and refrigerate for 24 hours. When ready to serve, toss gently.
