Ingredients
20 pieces White Sandwich Bread (several days old), crusts removed
3/4 cup Elmers Glue
1 tablespoon liquid dish soap
1 teaspoon Peppermint Extract (optional)
Food Coloring (optional)
Directions
Tear bread into small pieces and place in a large bowl. Add remaining ingredients and mix until well blended. Knead mixture for 5 minutes or longer until smooth dough is formed, flouring your hands often to keep it from sticking. Shape into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap and chill 1 hour or overnight. When ready to use, knead several more minutes. To color dough, pull off part of dough and work in some food coloring. This dough can be shaped by hand or rolled out and cut with cookie cutters. Pieces can be attached to each other by just pressing them together. Air dry on waxed paper on a rack. Complete drying will take anywhere from a few days to 2 weeks for thick objects. They will shrink about 1/3 when dry. To seal, brush with Elmer's glue (it will dry clear) or spray on a gloss or matte sealer.
