Summer squash has high water content and may cause the dish you are preparing to become too watery. Grilling or baking
summer squash will help produce a dryer squash but there is more you can do to remove some of the moisture before the squash is cooked. Draining is a process used to remove moisture from summer squash. See the draining squash steps below.
- First cut the squash into slices and arranging them in a shallow dish.
- Then sprinkling the slices with salt.
- Allow them to sit for 20 to 30 minutes after salting.
- After 20 to 30 minutes, rinse the slices under cold running water and pat dry.
After draining, cook according to your recipe.
