Checking Pumpkin Pie Doneness

To check for doneness, insert the tip of a table knife in about 1 inch from the center of the pie. The knife will come out clean if the pie is done. If not, continue to cook at 5 minute intervals and check again.
Quick Tips & Ideas

Checking Pumpkin Pie Doneness

See additional details below on how to bake your pumpkin pie recipes.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 30 minutes and then check to see if crust is browning too much, if so, cover lightly with foil until the last 10 minutes of baking.
  • Check for doneness after it has been baking for 50 minutes. Check doneness as stated above or gently shake the pie and if about an inch of the center jiggles a little, the pie is done. The center will set from the heat of the pie after it is removed from the oven. If more than just the center jiggles, continue to cook and check for doneness at 5 minute intervals.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely before cutting and serving.
