Egg Strada Recipe

  • 4 cups cubed day old bread
  • 2 pounds sausage (chicken, pork or turkey) cooked, drained and crumbled
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, manchego, provolone, or any full flavored cheese)
  • 10 eggs slightly beaten
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon Dry Mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • fresh ground pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
  • 1/2 cup peeled chopped tomatoes (optional)
Place bread in well buttered 9x13 baking dish. Spread sausage over bread. Sprinkle with cheese. Combine next 6 ingredients. Pour evenly over the bread and cheese. Sprinkle optional ingredients over the top. Cover and chill over night. Preheat oven to 325°. Bake, uncovered for about 1 hour. Tent with foil if top begins to brown too quickly, (yes, do this).

Serves 6
