Orange Drop Cookies Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2/3 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons grated Orange Rind
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • Orange Butter Icing
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons soft butter
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons orange juice
  • 2 teaspoons orange rind
Directions
Heat oven to 400°. Mix shortening, sugar and egg. Stir in orange juice and rind. Stir dry ingredients together; blend in. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes.

Orange Butter Icing:

Blend butter and sugar. Stir in orange juice and rind until smooth. Frost cookies.
