Chocolate Covered Cherries Recipe

  • maraschino cherries
  • 1 cup butter - 2 sticks
  • 2 1/2 pounds powdered sugar
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 18 ounces milk chocolate chips
  • 1/4 paraffin - to 1/2 bar

  • Drain, pitted maraschino cherries and lay on paper towels.
  • Blend together the butter, powdered sugar, and sweetened condensed milk.
  • Dip each cherry in mixture and place on cookie sheets lined with waxed paper.
  • Set in freezer a minimum of 15 minutes.
  • Melt the chocolate chips, and 1/4 - 1/2 bar of paraffin together over low heat.
  • Remove cherries a few at a time from the freezer and dip them in the chocolate mixture and set on wax paper or parchment paper to cool.
  • Tips: Skewers work well for dipping. Coating the paper with a little butter keeps the cherries from sticking to the paper and each other, and makes for easy storing when you are done. Assembly lines of family and friends works great.
