Turkey Injection Flavoring Recipe

Add great flavor to your next roasted or deep-fried turkey with this savory, simple to prepare flavoring liquid. Injecting the turkey enhances the flavor of the meat but also results in a moist and juicy bird. Let us show you how to flavor inject a turkey.

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • 10 drops tabasco sauce
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons garlic salt

  • Mix all ingredients in a small bowl or 2-cup measuring cup. Stir until the salt is dissolved.
  • Pour the flavoring liquid into the tube of the syringe and begin injecting the flavoring into the turkey. Try to spread the flavoring through the turkey with the fewest possible punctures. Begin by inserting the needle deep into the breast of the turkey and injecting a little flavoring. Pull the needle part way out and insert the needle again at a different angle; inject some flavoring.
  • Continue to inject the turkey at different angles to spread the flavoring throughout the turkey breast as much as possible. Repeat the same process on the other side of the breast.
  • After injecting the turkey breast, inject flavoring into the leg and thigh in the same manner.
  • Use 1-2 ounces of liquid in each thigh and breast, depending on the size of the turkey (1 1/2 ounces is sufficient for a 12 lb. turkey).
  • Each leg should be injected with 3/4 to 1 ounce of liquid. Any remaining flavoring can be injected into the wings drumsticks, and the back of the turkey.
  • Cover the turkey and refrigerate overnight to allow the liquid to impart its flavor throughout the meat.
