Tips on Selecting Cucumbers
To select the freshest cucumbers, choose those that are firm and have tight, shiny skins. Avoid any that are soft, have shriveled or have blemished skin. Select smaller cucumbers for better flavor and smaller seeds.

Tips on Selecting Cucumbers
More about cucumbers:
Cucumbers are a long, cylinder shaped vegetable of the gourd family that has rounded ends and grows on a creeping type of plant.
The skin is usually a dark green color and the flesh is a very light green color with a high moisture content.
Cucumbers are commonly use in salads or canned to make pickles.
The skin on the cucumber is edible as well as the flesh, but the skin can be peeled if desired.
To keep sliced cucumbers crisp longer, place slices into ice water immediately after cutting.
