Quick Tips & Ideas

Brownies the Way You Like Them

The taste of your brownies will be affected by the type of chocolate used in the recipe. You will find recipes that call for semi-sweet chocolate, cocoa powder, and Hershey syrup, to name a few. Experimenting with these recipes will help you determine which one is your favorite. Also, baking your brownies for just the right amount of time will provide you with the best results. Baked too little and they will be dough in the middle. Baking them too long will result in drier brownies, and you will not have that delicious moist brownie you are expecting. Start testing for doneness about 5 minutes before the end of the suggested cooking time. Poke them in the middle with a toothpick. If the toothpick comes out clean the brownies are done and should be removed from the oven. If the brownie sticks to the toothpick, return the pan to the oven and bake another 3 minutes and test again. Continue this process at 1 to 2 minute intervals until the toothpick comes out clean.
