Preserves

Chunks or whole fruit cooked with sugar and pectin that are suspended in a firm jelly base. A preserve is generally used as a spread for bread, toast or rolls. The texture of a preserve is not as smooth as a jam and jelly. Jams have smaller, soft, formless pieces of fruit (not chunks) and jellies are the smoothest since they do not have any pieces of fruit existing in the jelly base.
