Comment: whymicrowave - there are many reasons. 1) During the summer a microwave doesn't heat up the kitchen, 2) total power usage is less with 80% power than with an oven, 3) You can walk away and not have to take it out in exactly 40 minutes, no over cooking, 3) some people, like college students or military in barracks may not have a stove but do have a microwave, 4) don't have to preheat a microwave.
