"This is a light delicious Bread. I made a few changes, but not to the ingredients nor measurements. I ground my fennel seeds to release the oils with my mortar & Pestal, I cubed the butter cold and rubbed it into my dry ingredients to make it a bit lighter. I also make my own buttermilk with a scant cup of milk and then juiced one fresh lemon into it and let it sit for 10 minutes. And finally I added a bit more flour after making a well, pouring the mixed buttermilk & egg mixture, reserving about a teaspoon of the mixture to use as egg-wash, and mixing with a quick open hand or wooden spoonto get a clean bowl, instead of a sticky mound, I got a beautiful round, that I cut a cross into and then released the fearies by poking a small hole into each quarter. Viola! Perfect Bread result! This recipe is so good, my daughter has me cook a loaf a day! :D Thank you! <3"
