Swiss Steak 39 Recipe

  • 1 1/2 pounds beef boneless round steak, 3/4 inch thick
  • 1/2 teaspoon prepared seasoned salt
  • 6 new potatoes, quartered
  • 1 1/2 cups baby-cut carrots
  • 1 onion, sliced (medium)
  • 1 can diced tomatoes with basil, garlic, and oregano, undrained (14 1/2 ounce can)
  • 1 jar home-style beef gravy (12 ounce jar)
  • chopped fresh parsley, optional
Remove excess from beef. Cut beef into 6 serving pieces. Spray 12" skillet with cooking spray; heat over medium high heat. Sprinkle beef with seasoned salt. Cook beef in skillet for about 8 minutes, turning once, until brown. Layer potatoes, carrots, beef, and onion in 3 1/2 to 6 quart slow cooker. Mix tomatoes and gravy; spoon over beef and vegetables.

Cover and cook on low for 7-9 hours, or until beef and vegetables are tender. Sprinkle with parsley.

Yield: 6 servings.

Note: Weight watchers 5 points per serving.
