Southern Fried Chicken Strips Recipe

Buttermilk fried chicken strips at their finest. Crisp and seasoned with oregano and paprika, you'll no longer need to go out to get your favorite chicken strips.

  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon chicken flavored instant boullion
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano leaves
  • 1 pound skinned boneless chicken breasts, cut into strips
  • 1 1/4 cups unsifted flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • vegetable oil
In a large bowl combine buttermilk, boullion and oregano; let stand 10 minutes.

Stir in chicken. Let stand 30 minutes to blend flavors.

In a plastic bag, combine flour and paprika. Add chicken a few pieces at a time: shake to coat. Dip in buttermilk mixture again and then coat with flour again.

In a skillet, fry chicken strips in hot oil until golden on both sides. Drain on paper towels.

"I love fried chicken and this is really good. Try adding a little crushed red pepper flakes to the flour mixture to spice it up a little. I did it with drumsticks, fried them until crispy and then baked them in the oven on a rack to finish the cooking. Delicious."
