Maw's Cole Slaw Recipe

Ingredients
  • Medium size head cabbage
  • Large onion - chopped
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 1/2 cup salad oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon powdered mustard
  • 1 tablespoon celery seed

  • Shred a medium size head of cabbage in a large bowl.
  • Slice the whole onion over the cabbage.
  • Toss lightly.
  • Pour 7/8 C. sugar over all of the mixture.
  • In a saucepan mix vinegar, salad oil, 2 Tablespoons sugar, salt, powdered mustard, and celery seed. Bring to a boil. Pour over cabbage and onions.
  • Let set overnight.


It will keep 2 weeks in the fridge.
