Baked Turkey in a Bag Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 12 lb. turkey, thawed
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • garlic powder
  • oil, canola
  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • Wash the turkey with cold water. Remove the giblets and the neck. Place them in a pot with water and spices, you can use this later for your stuffing.
  • Place your turkey into a baking pan. Cover your turkey with oil. Generously sprinkle on the spices. Use your hands to rub the spices all over the turkey, be sure to get under and inside the turkey also.
  • Cut butter into slices and tuck under the skin of the turkey breast.
  • Prepare the oven bag according to instructions on the package. Place the turkey into the oven bag; then place turkey into the roasting pan.
  • Bake for 2 hour in an oven preheated to 350° F. or until the turkey reaches an internal temperature of 175° F.
  • Allow your turkey to cool for about 20 minutes before slicing. This will keep the juices in the turkey.
