Cream together the shortening and sugar.

Add the egg, vinegar and molasses and mix well.

Sift together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and ginger; add to the above mixture and stir well.

Chill for 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

Roll dough, cut into shapes and bake about 5-7 minutes.
