Directions
Combine sugar and corn starch together in a saucepan. Add milk, beaten egg yolks and salt; heat on medium-low, stirring occasionally until thick. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Pour into a baked pie shell. For the meringue, beat egg whites until stiff. Add cream of tarter and sugar, beat until glossy. Spread over filling and bake at 350° for 8-10 minutes until meringue is light brown.
