Turkey
A wild game bird or domesticated bird (poultry) that evolved from the pheasant family of wildfowl. Wild turkey contains somewhat tougher and darker meat than the domesticated variety of turkey, which is raised to produce a greater quantity of white meat. A mature wild turkey ranges in weight from 15 to 24 pounds, while the domesticated variety ranges in weight from 4 to 24 pounds. Whole commercially raised turkeys may be labeled hen or tom turkey, but this does not make a significant difference in the quality.
