A fortified wine that has been cask-aged and been blended with grape brandy following the fermentation process. Sherry was originally produced in Spain, which has traditionally been considered as the home of fine sherry. Now produced in a variety of countries, Sherry is available in various levels of quality, similar to wines, that range from very fine and expensive to inexpensive and mass produced. They vary in color, sweetness and flavor and are consumed before a meal (as an apéritif), after a meal (as a dessert wine), or used as a flavoring in sweet and savory dishes.
