The Sauvignon Blanc varietal was marketed by the Robert Mondavi Winery in Napa Valley, California as Fumé Blanc. It is now the 2nd most popular white wine grape in California (U.S.), Chardonnay being the most popular.

Characteristics: Those wines labeled Fumé Blanc, from California, are dry and oaky versions of Sauvignon Blanc.
